Valentine's Day Card for My Hubby!

I bought the Sweethearts cartridge lately (when Michael's had their crazy $9.99 cartridge sale I was able to get Joann's to price match AND use my teacher's discount)!  I absolutely loved this little monkey and knew it would be so cute on a card for my hubby for Valentine's Day!  The vine, leaf, and sentiment are also on the Sweethearts cartridge.  I used the Gypsy to resize the leaf to fit in the space on my card.  I haven't decided if I'll stamp a sentiment or write my own.  I'm thinking the inside has to have bananas though!

I used the Love Language Cuttlebug embossing folder/die set.  I love how it looks like Swiss Dots but with hearts!  I ran an ink pad over gently to make the hearts pop.  I also used Stardust Stickles on the heart and Uniball Signo and Sakura Gelly Roll gel pens for detailing.  I decided last minute that I needed to trace over the lines the Cricut cuts - it looked odd to me without it.

Baby Card

The assistant principal at the school where I teach is expecting a baby boy.  Some of the outfits I got for her have monkeys on them so I really wanted to make a onesie card with a monkey!

I used a cut file using the George cartridge from Jen C - http://jensbrainthings.blogspot.com/
I also used the cute monkey from the New Arrival cartridge and some small buttons.  I used a Uniball Signo white pen for detailing.  I stamped the inside with a Studio G congrats stamp with baby footprints.  I wanted to keep it pretty simple and make it look like an actual onesie.

Birthday Project for My Pink Stamper Challenge

I've been trying all week to find some free time to make a card for Robyn's challenge!  It's been a tough week at work (I'm a teacher) and I've been too tired to do anything.  Today is the first time in a while I've been able to be crafty.

My sister's birthday is in March, so I actually got a head start (I usually wait until the last minute).

I used the cute cupcake from the Create a Critter cartridge (popped up with foam adhesive), paper from a DCWV baby girl mat stack (the cherries are glittery!), Fiskar's Scallop Sentiments punch, Imaginisce Happy Birthday stamp, and of course STICKLES!! (Icicle to be exact.)  The ribbon was just some in my stash.

Stylish Blogger Award!

Thanks to Giang at Keen on Scrapbooking and Card-Making for giving me the Stylish Blogger Award!  This is especially nice since I'm so new to this whole blog thing!  I've never posted any projects besides on my Scrapbook.com gallery.

Here's a link to her blog:  http://nnhgiang.blogspot.com/

Here are 8 things about me!

1.  I teach middle school Math and Science!  It's hard to believe I'm in my tenth year of teaching!  I taught for a year in Virginia before moving to Ohio to the Cleveland area.  (My husband's family is from Cleveland.)

2.  I love to read - my favorites are Jane Austen and Jodie Picoult.  I also love movies based on Jane Austen books.  I think Emma may be my favorite!

3.  My hubby and I love to watch movies together!  We also love to travel whenever we can.  Our latest trip was to San Francisco to spend a couple of weeks for Christmas!

4.  My favorite show is Modern Family!  A close second is The Office, although the previous seasons have been way funnier.

5.  My favorite candy is a Hershey Bar.  And I HAVE to buy Cadbury cream eggs around Easter!

6.  My husband and I were married in Hawaii - on a beach in Honolulu five years ago!  We hope to make it back there some day!

7.  My husband and I met while we were both working at a department store where we both worked while we were in college.

8.  I love to make cards and to scrapbook, although I think I spend more time on messageboards and blogs!

Treat Boxes with TBBM Cartridge

http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/holiday-pretzel-treats-685006/
Photo from Family Fun website - mine looked very similar!
My version - using thin patterned paper just to test it out.
Cut at 5.57 inches with my Gypsy - as large as I could cut with my baby bug.
DCWV Christmas Combo Stack - very thick and glittery - worked perfectly with the boxes I made.

I got the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut cartridge (finally!) when I bought a Gypsy back in October.  I knew I wanted to use it to make treats for the other teachers in my grade.  I found this video on Youtube from PaperRenee that I loved!  The popcorn boxes have a clear window with a stamped sentiment.

I didn't take any pictures before I gave them out for some odd reason!  I do have a sample - made using light weight patterned paper just to see how it would turn out. I used the DCWV Christmas Combo Stack to make the actual popcorn boxes.  I also made these pretzel treats with red and green M&M's to go inside. (The picture itself is from the Family Fun website.  I didn't think to take pictures of the ones I made either!)  They were so easy to make, and very yummy!

Sister's Engagement Card - MPS Challenge Entry

My sister recently got engaged and is planning a wedding this summer.  When I found Robyn's blog hop (mypinkstamper.com) I knew it would be perfect for a card for this occasion!  I originally planned to use Sweethearts, but loved this heart on Love Struck.

I used Love Struck for the Heart and Silhouette, the Doily Lace Martha Stewart Punch, Congratulations stamp (from Inkadinkado's Chelsea Sentiments set), and Heidi Grace patterned paper "Day Dream Believer/Mini Floral".  The patterned paper pack was found at Big Lots for $1!  It's hard to see clearly, but the paper is glimmery.  I also used Making Memories foam adhesive to pop up the heart.

Dad's Birthday Card

I made this today for my Dad's birthday.  He loves to fish and grew up spending all of his free time at his grandparents' house on the Pamunkey River in Virginia.  My parents recently built a house there and my dad was even out fishing in December (in between snows)!

I used several Cricut cartridges  - Everyday Paper Dolls for the fish, baseball cap, and fishing pole, Paper Doll Dress Up for the outfit and hair, Zooballoo for the grass (from another project I had left over) and Pooh and Friends for the clouds.  I used some embroidery floss for the string holding the fish, and a Zig pen and Uniball Signo (white) pen for detailing.  The stamp is from a set by See D's (rubber stamps that are adhesive to stick on clear blocks.)

Welcome to my Blog!

After seeing all of the blogs out there I felt I should start one of my own!  The main reason will be to keep track of the cards, layouts, and other projects that I create with my Cricut baby bug! Since I'm new to blogging I am open to ideas and suggestions!

Every year I say I'm going to start my Christmas cards early, and every year I wait until the last possible minute!  I kept the cards pretty simple.  Maybe next year I'll start before December!

First Birthday Card

My cousin's baby turned 1 in November and I made this card for him.  I got the idea from Scrappin' Navy Wife.  I used Create a Critter Cricut cartridge for the train, lion, and balloon, Zooballoo for the grass, and Everyday Paper Dolls for the train track.  (I don't remember what cartridge I used for the 1.)  I'm not thrilled with how it turned out - I should have made the train and lion larger.  I designed on my Cricut Gypsy (after not having it very long) and really wasn't used to it yet.  (I think I eventually gave up using the Gypsy and cut from the cartridge because I was off with the sizing of the layers even though I thought I'd matched them up.)  I still think it turned out pretty cute!  His nursery has a jungle theme, so I really liked the lion!

Baby Card

A teacher I work with had a baby back in November and I created this card for her.  I love the elephant on the Holiday Cakes cartridge!  I also used Mini Monograms for the scalloped circle, and a Studio G stamp.  I designed it on my Cricut Gypsy first while I was away from home.
